NEWS CONFERENCE:
OFFICIALS DEMOLISH LONG-STANDING DRUG HOUSE IN EAST OAKLAND

Oakland City Attorney John Russo is hosting a news conference tomorrow afternoon at the site of a long-standing drug house-known as the McCullough house-at 1148 71st Avenue in East Oakland. Oakland City Officials, including Vice Mayor Larry Reid, City Manager Robert Bobb, and Oakland Police Chief Richard Word, will join City Attorney Russo to receive the deed for the property from the Federal government.

In conjunction with a public nuisance action filed by the Office of the City Attorney, the United States Attorney's Office initiated an asset forfeiture action against the property owners, forcing them to forfeit the property as a permanent solution to chronic drug dealing and criminal activity at the property. Once the property is officially deeded to the City, Oakland officials and representatives from the United States Attorney's Office, the FBI, and the U.S. Marshalls will be on hand to witness the demolition of this public nuisance.
