The office of the City Attorney's serves as the lawyer for Oakland's
city government as a municipal corporation. Our clients include the Mayor,
the City Council and its committees, the Redevelopment Agency, City agencies
and departments, and various official boards and commissions.
Ultimately, we serve and are accountable to the people of Oakland as
constituents of the city.
However, the Office of the City Attorney does not represent individuals
in private legal matters.
