Award from International Municipal Lawyers Association recognizes work in field of municipal law
OAKLAND, CA – City Attorney Barbara J. Parker received the “Distinguished Public Service Award” Tuesday from the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA), a professional association that has advocated for local government attorneys since 1935.
Parker received the Joseph I. Mulligan, Jr. Distinguished Public Service Award at the IMLA’s 78th annual conference, held this year in San Francisco. The IMLA gives the award every year “to honor a local government attorney for significant and surpassing achievements in the field of local government law occurring or culminating in the previous year.”
Parker thanked the IMLA for its work on behalf of local governments and in the field of municipal law.
“I am honored to receive this award from this extraordinary organization which has been dedicated to improving the practice of municipal law for more than three quarters of a century,” Parker said. “I appreciate the recognition of the work my office has done over the last year to protect the interests of the people of Oakland and help improve our city government.”
