Amadis Sotelo serves as a Senior Deputy City Attorney in the General Public Safety & Code Enforcement Unit, which is part of the Advisory Division of the Office of the City Attorney. He advises City staff serving in the Fire Department on legislative matters, contracting, and code enforcement, the Department of Workforce and Economic Development on the regulation of Commercial Cannabis Activity, and provides legal support to the Oakland City Council and various boards and commissions.
Mr. Sotelo has served the City of Oakland since 2010. Prior to joining the Office of the City Attorney, Mr. Sotelo served as an Assistant District Attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Sotelo obtained his Juris Doctorate from John F. Kennedy School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts (Rhetoric) from the University of California at Berkeley.
