Brigid S. Martin is counsel to the Oakland Police Department.
Prior to joining the City Attorney’s Office, Ms. Martin served as a federal prosecutor for more than 15 years, first as a Department of Justice Trial Attorney (Antitrust Division, San Francisco), and then as an Assistant United States Attorney (Northern District of California). At the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ms. Martin served in roles including Senior Litigation Counsel and Chief of the Organized Crime Strike Force. She also represented the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Oakland Ceasefire Call-In Program and the District Court’s Conviction Alternatives Program.
Ms. Martin received her J.D., cum laude, from UC College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), and her B.S. from the College of William & Mary.
