Courtney O’Brien is a Deputy City Attorney in the General & Complex Litigation Division. She represents the City in a wide variety of civil matters, including premises liability and civil rights lawsuits in both state and federal court.
Ms. O’Brien has extensive litigation experience. Prior to joining the City Attorney’s office, Ms. O’Brien practiced law at the local firms of Carbone, Smith & Koyama in Oakland, Bishop|Barry, APC in Emeryville, and Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman, LLP, in Concord. Ms. O’Brien also serves as a Trustee on the Martinez Unified School District Board of Education.
Ms. O’Brien earned a bachelors degree from the University of Southern California, and a Juris Doctorate from UC Davis School of Law. While there, she held internships at the California Attorney General’s Office and the Solano County District Attorney’s office.
